Empowering women entrepreneurs With the aim of uplifting the livelihood of less privileged communities in Colombo and its suburbs, the Colombo Public Library launched an ‘Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme’ for women. It was launched in 2019 to coincide with the International Women’s Day celebrations at the library. Skills Online Sri Lanka In mid 2020, the National Library of Sri Lanka (NLSL) formed a partnership with Commonwealth of Learning (COL) - Coursera Workforce Recovery Initiative (CWRI) with the aim of helping job-seekers in Sri Lanka to gain upskill and reskill to enter into the job market as well as reinforce job related skills to regain employment. COL-CWRI offered learners unlimited and free access to 5,000 courses designed to skill and reskill them. In June 2020, the NLSL implemented the programme under the topical theme ‘Skills Online Sri Lanka Programme (SOSLP) – Employed for the Unemployed’.| Read more..... |
